Always use gloves to manipulate anything on the 3D printing SLA bench (expept for the USB drive, to plug it and unplug it). Use the gloves exclusively on the bench, and remove them when you want to manipulate something outside the bench.
Always use protective eyeglasses.
Always use a lab coat.
Make sure the area is well ventilated.
We use the software Chitubox to slice our models.
- Open Chitubox, make sure the parameters are correct in "Settings" (3D printer brand and name, resin brand).
- Add supports if needed.
- Slice the model and export it on the USB drive (.ctb format).
- Make sure the bed (metallic plate) is well attached (big black screw).
- Make sure the resin vat is well attached (2 nuts).
If there are some bubles below the FEP film of the resin vat, you can spray a little bit of water, then push the bubbles on the boundaries.
- Fill the resin vat with resin up to the first line you can see (about 5 mm from the FEP film).
- Navigate on the touch screen and start the print.
Take extra care when cleaning your model, since it is covered with non-polymerized resin.
- Place paper towels on the bench (because liquid resin will spread a lot during the next steps).
- Open the 3D printer lid.
- Detach the bed, and let the resin left on the bed flow in the resin vat. You can use the plastic spatula.
- Place the bed on a paper towel, and detach the model using the metalic spatula.
- Remove the supports.
- Place the model into the plastic bag (or any other container filled with solvent) in the sonic bath, for 3 minutes at room temperature.
- Place it into a 2nd container with solvent for a quick clean.
- Place it into a 3rd container with water and place it under the UV lamp for 10 minutes.
- Re-open the resin bottle, place the plastic funnel and the metallic funel (to filter the resin) on top of the bottle.
- Detach the resin vat, and refill the bottle with the resin left.
- Clean the tools with IPA and new paper towels.
- Clean the bench with IPA and new paper towels.
- Throw away all paper towels into the solid waste bin, below the bench.
